Those who save us by Jenna Blum
Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Must read! A brilliant book, coming from the most unlikely author. She made it a point to be realistic and clever about the story and all the people in it.
I'm very much impressed!
I will re-read it, and can't wait to get my grubby hands on her second book, stormchasers.
Oh, yeah, read within 24 hours.

Just in time delivery
I'ts amazing, my timing.
This evening I've met with my friend at 10.40 pm on a gasstation smack in the middle of our little villages.
To hand over a wet Big Harringbone Cowl ;-)
She's going on wintervacation in a few hours, and I've JUUUST managed to finish it ;-)
Felt like a rather clandestine handover - well, it was just my incredible timing.
She likes it, everybody happy. Especially me!
Yarn: King Cole Merino Blend DK
5 skeins
started on february 10th.
I've cast on 293 stitches ot account for the thinner yarn:
And that's it!:
wet and all - completely according to the given measurements in the pattern.
I LOVE Herringbone - first time I could actually knit it, thanks to this Tutorial.
There's another one on the needles for me ......

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

Traveling woman
Almost exactly a year ago I started to knit this shawl.
The yarn is from the Dutch Round Robin, which I participated in once.
The colour immediately brought the recipient to mind, as she dresses in this colour almost always. - Actually, she dresses in black, with either purple or red accessories. I wish I had my dressing down like that sometimes.
The humble beginnings:
The pattern is Traveling woman,
by Liz Abinante.
Sometime in April I made another picture of it, but was not really speeding forward ;-)
I think it was a {This moment} shot.
I loved the pattern, it was very easy to memorize - and to remember - when I picked up the shawl after a long rest. The tiny needles got to me, I could not really see the progress....
Finally I finished the shawl yesterday, and because I will meet the recipient tomorrow, it's blocking now.
Yeah, I will weave in the ends. There are lots and lots actually, it is a handspun yarn, and very poorly so sadly. Never in my live I had so many breaks in one skein.
The things one does for a colour..........
I hope she likes it!

First steps with the CSM "Sue"
As I've told you before, I fulfilled myself a longstanding wish. I bought a Circular Knitting Machine from the last century - or is it the century before the last ?!?
It's a Legare - send to me from Sweden - by a lovely raveler, Caprifool..
With the machine came a boatload of wool - all of which has to wait to be documented. The most used was the email he sent me to get me started.
How to assemble the machine, and a handful of very useful youtube video's and pointers. I'm gonna share them here when I get to them.
First up, how to make a setup - bonnet.
This is the result:
He gave me instructions how to make heel- forks - to weigh the work down when making shortrows.
Here they are:
Three forks from the second- hand- shop, 25 cents.
An old napkin I kept for the colours, which I love - repurpose.
A bag of dried peas from the kitchen, approx 50 cents
A length of lint to make the bows.....
and the third weight houses some old rings, it's heavier than the two with peas, and is used in the middle.
Today I had a few hours to practice heels.
The fifth was the first I've managed without dropping a stitch, the sixth had me lose one, which I noticed right away. So I'm really happy with the improvement.
The video that Caprifool sent me, I've watches at least 120 times by now ;-)
No-wrap heel on the CSM.
Go have a look!
Another video, which I will see hundreds of times in the following months is this one:
Kitchener stitch to close the toe.
So, lots of entertaining things to keep me busy, thanks so much Caprifool!
